# Multimodal Tissue Imaging and Machine Learning to Advance Precision Medicine

How multimodal imaging supplies the molecular insight that classical histopathology alone leaves incomplete — the foundation of a precision approach to treating cancer.

In this webinar, Peter K. Sorger, PhD — the Otto Krayer Professor of Systems Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School — examines why the effective treatment of cancer increasingly depends on a precision approach. In that approach, quantifying molecular features at the level of individual patients is what guides their treatment plans.

His starting point is a limitation of classical histopathology: on its own, it provides insufficient molecular insight for that kind of individualized, molecular-level decision-making.

Sorger discusses how multimodal imaging addresses this gap, adding molecular insight to the picture of a tissue section in a way that can inform targeted and immunotherapies.
