Spatial Biology: Applying Cellular Phenotyping in Health and Disease
How spatial context at the subcellular level shapes the study of cells in health and disease — and how Orion™ technology sets out to resolve the challenges of reading it.
In this webinar, Mickael Meyrand, a Field Application Scientist at RareCyte, Inc., looks at spatial biology and the cellular phenotyping of tissue in health and disease. His starting point is the tissue itself: a mix of heterogeneous cell types, each with its own functions and functional states, whose spatial organization can shape health status. Cellular phenotyping is the work of telling those cell types and states apart, and reading where they sit within the tissue.
Understanding that spatial context at the subcellular level is often difficult. Meyrand frames the obstacles as imaging resolution, throughput, and the assessment of multiple targets at the same time. Each of these limits how fully the spatial organization of cells in a tissue can be read.
Against that backdrop, the session presents Orion™ technology as resolving these challenges — the imaging resolution, throughput, and simultaneous target assessment that reading spatial context at the subcellular level requires. It is an applied look at studying cells, and the way they are organized in space, across health and disease.
